Western obsession

I woke up to find this on my kitchen table...

There is a bit of a Western obsession in my house, which began a few weeks ago with Silverado.  He watched True Grit last week. Now he is pulling a Lonesome Dove marathon. Lonesome Dove, by the way, is like a man's soap opera. I didn't see the first few episodes - Saturday I was sewing, baking and preparing a lesson - so I asked Ryan to catch me up.

His description went something like this:
"This guy accidentally killed a man. That lady (a young Diane Lane) is in love with him, but he is a jerk and lied to her. Oh, by the way, she is a whore and sleeps with lots of men. Most women in this movie are whores. Anyway, he dumped her and she got kidnapped by some bad guys and some Indians, who repeatedly raped her. But she is now in love with this old guy (played by Robert Duval), who rescued her. These guys go around and steal cattle. They are the good guys."

Me: "and they steal cattle?"

Ryan: "Well, they steal it from some bad Mexicans."

Me: "Right, that makes them good."

Funny! We watched Lonesome Dove at our house a few weeks ago, definitely a soap opera for men.

Ha ha ha! I LOVED True Grit. I remember vaguely watching the end of Lonesome Dove and Silverado is just a classic.

My husband loves all John Wayne movies, so sometimes I see them by accident. I am always surprised how good they are.

I just have to tell you I'm way behind on my Bingeladying and I totally just read clear back to February and now it's past my bedtime and I have bloodshot eyes and it's all your fault. In conclusion: Your kids are so adorable and hilarious. I can't believe how long your hair is, it's gorgeous. And all that stuff you geeked out about, I love it. And as always, I just LOVE reading you. Your writing is delightful.

Okay,to clear this up with Megan's readers, the note was for a four year old that was concerned about the Irish immigrant that died of rattler bites while traversing the river. Kids love Westerns.
